With just about everybody owning a mobile phone, using mobile SMS marketing is a very compelling proposition. Even more so if you use it in conjunction with a smart well targeted email campaign. This means that you need to be a bit more creative with your copy, keep your message succinct because of the limited characters that are available, ensure that you have gained the permission of your contacts for receiving text messages and that there is also an opt-out facility if people don’t want to receive your text messages anymore.

One of the major benefits of SMS marketing is the open rates. They are considerably higher than those for email campaigns and studies have shown that over 90% of mobile phone users open a text message within 15 minutes of receiving it. Response rates are good as well.

Email marketing in conjunction with mobile SMS marketing are very cost effective ways of delivering your business messages and special offers to your customers. They also get you even closer to your target audience, affording you opportunities to nurture that relationship. Building your opt-in SMS marketing list is a challenge but with the right advice it is a strategy that can make your marketing efforts very fruitful.
