Get High Search Engine Rankings Now

If you’re serious about making money with your website it is impossible to ignore the vast amounts of traffic you can gain from having high search engine rankings. As if you didn’t know, this means that when a person searches for a certain term on Google, Bing, Yahoo or one other the other search engines, your website is one of the very top ones returned. Depending on the specific search term this can net you tens of thousands of visitors a month. Just imagine what you could do with all that targeted traffic!

So how do you get high search rankings? Well first of all you need to decide on three or four search terms that you want to rank highly for and focus on them. For example I run a website that sells hypnosis products so I focus on the search terms “hypnosis”, “hypnosis MP3s”, “hypnosis downloads” and “hypnosis scripts”. What you pick will obviously depend on the particular niche of your website.

Now that you have chosen your desired search terms (also known as keywords) you can begin work on attaining high search engine rankings. There are two areas that you need to focus on – on page SEO and off page SEO.

On Page SEO

Keyword Density – Keyword density is the amount of times on a page your search term is mentioned. So for example, if your page has 500 words and mentions one of your keywords 5 times then it has a keyword density of 1%.

While there is no definitive answer to the level of keyword density you need a good rule of thumb is 5%. This is enough to let the search engines know what your website is about without looking like you are “spamming” your keywords.

You can check your keyword density at Keyword Density dot com.

Page Titles – Your page title appears at the top of the browser and on your search engine listing. It also explains to search engine what that page is about. Don’t just cram all your keywords in as this looks spammy and as search engine intelligence grows they will start to really crack down on these sort of techniques.

Using my website example above I might have a page titled “Weight Loss Hypnosis MP3” but I certainly wouldn’t have “Hypnosis For Weight Loss Download MP3 Script” as this just doesn’t make any sense to a regular reader. You have to think about the regular reader as well as the search engine as these will be the people who actually visit your site.

Headings – Headings are much like the page title only they appear on the actual page rather than at the top of the browser. Many people say you should use H1 headings but in my experience any H-tag is good.

Meta Tags – It’s widely believed that meta tags are no longer used by most search engines but as they only take a few minutes to complete why not use them? The two most common meta tags are the description and keywords. The description is a short sentence which describes what the page is about while the keyword meta tag is a list of your keywords, again which describes what the page is about.

Alt and Title Tags – If you have pictures on your website, which is a good idea as it makes your site more visually appealing, you should take advantage of alt and title tags. In these tags you can describe the picture which lets the search engines know what the picture’s of and also shows up on your website incase the picture doesn’t load properly.

Off Page SEO

Backlinks – You need to alert search engines to you presence of your website and you do this by building backlinks. There are a number of ways you can do this including:

Article marketing.
Guest posting on blogs.
Blog commenting.
Social bookmarking.
Quality link directories.
Press releases.
Link exchanges.
Signature links.
Website profile links.

As you can see there is a lot of different ways to build backlinks. I believe that it is most beneficial to use a combination of all these techniques so that you build a varied, natural looking cache of links. The more links back to your website that you build, the more important your website will look to the search engines. This will cause them to rank your website highly in their search results, meaning you get a lot more targeted traffic who want to learn more (and will clicks ads/make purchases) about the subject of your website.

Appearing at the top of search engine rankings is the most effective way of driving traffic to your site, and with the proper amount of hard work it doesn’t have to cost you a penny. Now you know how to get high search engines rankings there is nothing stopping you from dominating your niche on the web.
