Howdy!
We bring good news to all of you who are looking at exploring additional revenue streams and expanding their customer base.
It’s time for the British retailers amongst you who have been selling in their local areas for quite some time to look further beyond their region.
One place you can explore is the cross-border platform of JD.com which has a pop-up store for Brit goods.
Now, online shoppers who are based in China can freely express their love for British goods by purchasing their favourite brands.
The pop-up store “Best of Britain” was carried out by the said company in partnership with the China-Britain Council in order to serve as an avenue for products made in Britain.
It will feature a range of high-quality brands famous in the UK and the rest of the western world; some may already be familiar to Chinese consumers, while others might be new to them.
In case you aren’t aware of what this can do for your business, gaining access to one of the world’s economically influential countries is a big step towards the global success of your brand.
Kaisi Li, deputy general manager at JD Worldwide, said UK retailers aren’t required to register their business in China. Neither do they have to worry about accumulating additional expenses for the warehouse and logistics setup.
The pop-up store offers end-to-end service, hence you can start selling to consumers in China quickly and easily, Li added.
What can you sell?
The Chinese associate British products with top quality, knowing that everything that comes out of the UK passes through strict standards.
However, just like everyone else, they too have their own favourites; Brit cosmetic and beauty products are high on their list.
To give in to that wish, JD.com will focus on those categories for the first eight weeks, featuring products like Argentum, Barry M, Bronnley, Cowshed, and The Organic Pharmacy, among many others.
The eCommerce company said Argentum decided to launch its flagship product on its site after it drew lots of positive feedback during the initial market test for “Best of Britain”.
After the eight-week period, we will see the entry of baby and maternity products and then other categories will follow later in the year.
Since your brand won’t be displayed permanently on the pop-up store, it will be wise to put out your best-seller or a limited edition item to engage potential customers, and eventually get them to buy from you.
That leads to happy days!
