Email Marketing Services – Comparison and Review

In today’s age of Social Media channels like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, you would think Email Marketing had gone by the wayside. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Email Marketing has proven to be effective for many reasons. Through email campaigns, your business can specifically target your consumers while building on the loyal and trusted relationship they have with you. Through opt-in methods on websites and landing pages, your audience has invited you into their life through the use of email marketing, and because they know you, and have chosen to hear from you, they are more likely to open your email and read it. You cannot get a hotter lead anywhere! Let’s take a look at some stats:

  • Email opens on mobile devices increased by 34% from April 2011 through September 2011 as compared to the previous six-month period.
  • Mobile email usage is at its lowest on Monday, desktop email usage is at its lowest on Sunday, and webmail email usage is at its lowest on Wednesday.
  • “Finance” and “shopping” show above average webmail views as compared to other industries, at 49% and 48%, respectively.
  • The industries leading the way in mobile email views are, not surprisingly, “social networking” (27%), “publishing” (26%), and “entertainment” (27%). (Source:

Constant Contact

  • Easy to Use
  • Free 60 Day Trial
  • $15.00/mo for up to 500 Contacts
  • Over 400 Templates
  • Sufficient Social Media Integration

Go Daddy provides fewer email templates than it’s competitors, and the learning curve is a little higher, but the Social Media Integration is off the hook. Priced competitively with MailChimp’s priced plan, it does offer more stock photos for use than either competitor mentioned here.

MailChimp is the only service here that offers a FREE plan. Free is good, right? Most small businesses won’t touch the 12,000 email limit per month and would benefit greatly from the easy to use interface. The reporting features are also helpful as is the online support.

Although Constant Contact is easy to use offers the most templates, the reporting options are somewhat limited and the Social Media integration is less than standard. Constant Contact is also the most expensive choice.
